In today’s world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The news. The violence. The grief. The pressure to keep going. For many of us — especially families, caregivers, and those holding marginalized identities — it can feel like the weight of the world is sitting on our shoulders.
At The Happy Pappy Foundation (HPF), we know that healing begins with slowing down, reconnecting, and remembering you’re not alone. Whether you're feeling anxious, tired, angry, or just numb — here are 7 ways to help you reset and ground yourself in faith, truth, and care.
1. Step Away from the Noise (Even for 10 Minutes)

Turn off the news. Log out of social media. Take a break from the scrolling. Overexposure to injustice can lead to numbness or burnout. Give your nervous system space to breathe.
2. Move Your Body Gently
Go for a walk. Stretch. Dance in your living room. Our bodies carry stress and trauma — and movement helps release it. You don’t need a gym or a plan. Just begin where you are.
3. Speak What’s True — Out Loud
Say how you’re feeling. To a trusted friend. In a journal. To God. In prayer. In the mirror. Let it out so it doesn’t stay stuck. Your voice is a tool of release and truth.
4. Do One Thing That Grounds You

Water your plants. Make a meal. Read something comforting. Clean one corner of your room. Watch a childhood movie. Anything that brings you back to now — not the doom, not the fear. Stop doom-scrolling and touch some grass!
5. Reconnect with Your People
Call someone who gets it. Text your community. Lean into chosen family. In uncertain times, community becomes our lifeline. You don’t have to process everything alone.
6. Pray, Breathe, or Be Still

Whether you're faith-filled, spiritual-but-not-religious, or somewhere in between — stillness matters. One deep breath. One whispered prayer. One moment to pause and remind yourself: You are still here. And that matters.
7. Protect Your Hope
Hope is not naivety. It’s resistance. It’s power. Make time for joy. Laugh. Dream. Let your heart be soft — even when the world is hard. Let your hope live.
